Ocean Park’s Story:

Ocean Park Camp & Retreat Center was founded in the late 1930s and dedicated in 1941 as a place for summer camp fun and education in the Methodist tradition. The entire town of Ocean Park was actually established as a Methodist camp in 1883, offering a quieter and more religious space than the rowdy boomtown Oysterville to the north.

Today OPCRC operates as one of the sacred spaces of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church. Serving as a retreat space for groups from 2-200, offering summer camp options for all ages, and connecting with the community of the Long Beach Peninsula mean there is always something amazing happening on our 100 acres of oceanfront property.

We value the history of this space while looking forward to new ways that OPCRC can partner with our neighbors on the peninsula, ministries throughout the Pacific Northwest, and all those looking for a space of renewal.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge the land on which we occupy today as the traditional and ancestral home of the people of the Chinook Nation. Ocean Park Camp & Retreat Center also acknowledges that it was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many Indigenous peoples, including those whose land this institution is located. This acknowledgment demonstrates a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism.

We recognize that a land acknowledgment is not enough. We commit to ongoing prioritization of unlearning internalized biases.
